Button Front Skirt

Spring is in full swing, but we are quickly ushering in summer with temperatures reaching almost 100 degrees already. Yikes! I'm really thankful that cotton skirts are in style right now, and especially a-line, button front ones. A-line shapes are generally flattering on most women because they minimize your hips and butt.

I found out about Hope Ave recently, and they had this adorable blue pin striped skirt I had to get my hands on. When it gets hot enough I plan to wear a cute bandeau or one piece with this to the beach.

I highly recommend checking out Hope Ave for some cute affordable spring clothes.

Neutral Nursery Design

011.JPG

I've never designed a space for another person before. In fact, that wasn't even the plan for Rennai. You see my dear friend and photographer is pregnant with a beautiful rainbow baby. She has gone through two losses before this pregnancy, and so celebrating this baby is scary and hard and wonderful all at the same time.

So designing a special space for this baby is party therapy, part scary, part exciting for Rennai. She knew she wanted a rocking chair from Article. She chose the Embrace chair, which completely lives up to its name. It's so beautiful and comfortable.

With a rocking chair chosen and crib that she already had from her previous kiddos, the room was already taking on a mid-century modern vibe. She doesn't know the gender of this baby, so we tried to keep things fairly gender neutral. Although, it started leaning more boy to the end. That's nothing that a swap of bedding and the art can't fix though.

Whenever you put a rocking chair in a nursery make sure there is a table to set things down next to. You'll need it for bottles or a breast pump or your own water bottle. It's a MUST have.

After doing this with Rennai it really made me want to help other friends design spaces. I don't know if that's in the cards for me right now, but maybe one day.

Fossil Spring Bag

011.JPG

Can you believe spring is almost here? I can't really tell with the sudden drop in temperatures here in Phoenix, but that hasn't stopped me from transitioning my accessories over to the new season.

004.JPG

As you know Fossil is my go-to place for handbags and watches. I think I have about four different handbags from them now. The quality of their leather and their prices just can't be beat, and the styles are SO CUTE. I saw this white Ryder Satchel with black and brown detailing and I knew it would be that perfect spring and summer bag to go with everything.

I like this bag because it's actually quite large. It holds all of my stuff and then some. I have carried three books in this bag. It also has a detachable strap when you just want to wear it as a handbag instead of a shoulder bag.

016.JPG

You'll also notice that I'm wearing one of their new hybrid watches. This one is stainless steel and called the Jaqueline Hybrid Smartwatch. It syncs to your phone and vibrates when you have a text or a call, but doesn't show who is calling. I like that feature because it alerts you to check your phone but it's not as distracting as the full smartwatch.

I must say silver has grown on me again, and I'm starting to switch back to it, especially for the summer seasons. What do you think? Are you more of a silver or a gold person?

Linen Sheets Are A Game Changer

002.JPG

This post is sponsored by Garnett Hill.

I kept hearing all of this buzz about linen sheets being the best thing you could ever sleep in, but I didn't really believe it. And even if it was true, I wasn't about to drop a ton of money on sheets when I already had some that were perfectly fine. I mean, it's like the whole thread count, Egyptian cotton thing...It sounds amazing and I love luxury, but do I really need to spend a wad of cash on sheets for the best sleep of my life? If it's a good price and halfway decent and I can get it at a nearby store then I'm sold. At least, that's how I operated until I had the chance to try linen sheets through Garnett Hill.

009.JPG

When they reached out to me to partner with them this year I was definitely excited. They are known for quality basics for women, kids and home. I have never ordered sheets online before though, and so I thought this was the perfect chance to experience that process.

010.JPG

I saw these Eileen Fisher ticking stripe sheets in pink, and I just had to have them. The frayed edges are so cute, and the color was the perfect way to add some spring freshness to the room. Although I must say, I was a bit hesitant about linen. I was wondering if everything was just going to look like a wrinkled mess all of the time. I sure as heck didn't want to have to iron all of the sheets everything time I had a guest visit.

003.JPG

But I took a gamble on them because of the rumors that sleeping in linen is the best. Boy am I glad I did. They are so awesome that I am considering giving up my own master bedroom for the guest room. Being that I live in Arizona where the temps can climb to 120, I should have done this a long time ago. They make you feel like you are sleeping on a cloud, and keep you nice and cool compared to regular sheets.

They do have a worn, slightly wrinkled look to them as most linen does, but I find that charming and a juxtaposition to modern design elements in my guest room. I highly recommend trying linen for yourself! Visit Garnett Hill for more linen styles.
