SHOWING SOME FLARE

I've traded in my skinnies for some flared jeans, and I forgot how good they feel. Do you remember wearing flared pants or even wide leg jeans? I know! It feels like a distant memory, but they are back in a big way and I finally bought myself a pair of Who What Wear jeans from Target

I love them because they make my legs look even long and my waist ity-bity. Oh yeah, did I mentioned they are high waist jeans that suck everything in too? Oh yeah, baby! This mama is one happy girl right now because, as I shared in a past post, my body isn't quite back to itself even though Levi turns 1 years old this coming week. AHH!

If you have long legs and a long torso, the key to wearing these jeans is to define your waist by tucking in your shirt. I don't like everything super structured, so I added my kimono (also from Target). A contrasting denim jacket would work well or simply a tank and t-shirt is always great.

Length is always an issue when you wear flare pants. I'm going to hem these jeans because I love wearing lower heels. For now, it works with these suede wedges.  So, are you ready to get your pair of flare (see what I did there)? If you're a bit hesitant you can find them at Target on sale for $34.99. That's such a low price for a fashion experiment! Let me know if you try!

OFF THE SHOULDER

Call me crazy, but I think the sexiest and most beautiful part of a woman's body is her shoulder. Some women like to show off their legs and others their chest, but if I want to feel beautiful and sexy I like showing my shoulders.

Off-the-shoulder tops and dresses were in style last spring and summer, and they have returned yet again. Fashion inspired by the 1970's is trending in a huge way, and these tops along with flared denim is here to stay for awhile.

I love this white, off-the-shoulder top by Elizabeth and James because it's comfortable, doesn't wrinkle and the pattern is ultra feminine. To achieve the full 70's inspired fashion trend I paired this top with wide-leg Alice + Olivia trousers. Don't be afraid of volume. I'm size 10, and I can still wear voluminous things without looking oversized. It's just about balance. Just make sure that you wear tall shoes to elongate your body. I wore platforms and made sure the hem went over my toes. Add some long necklaces to complete your boho look.

However, if you're too nervous to wear flared denim, you can always go with a good pair of skinny jeans. They are classic and define your body more. You really don't need too many accessories to make this outfit complete. The top really does all of the work for you.

PINTEREST LOOK FOR LESS

If Birkenstocks were able to make a resurgence from their seventies heyday, it's no surprise that flared jeans have fought their way back into the limelight, too. This pin from my spring style Pinterest board received over 780 repins, which affirms that the flared jean is officially back. When shopping for a pair of flares, opt for a mid to a high rise to get the most flattering fit. These jeans are great for highlighting curves and if you choose a pair that's long enough to wear with some platform heels, they have a very lengthening effect on the figure. Let these jeans revitalize your spring wardrobe, I'm sure you'll be surprised at how many newfound outftits they'll create for you. Splurge on a pair of premium flared jeans, or get the entire look below for just $140. Happy shopping!

5-Must-Try-Fall-Trends-Title-Image2.jpg

Last week I talked about how to transition summer styles into fall, and while re-working pieces within your existing wardrobe is great, it's impossible to ignore the excitement of a brand new season and a whole new set of trends to experiment with. After scouring the Fall/Winter 2015 Runway shows and stalking all of my favorite street style stars, I've compiled a list of the 5 must-try trends for this fall.

Take a classic school uniform, add some unexpected athletic twists, and a big dose of style for this next trend. There are quite a few elements which make up this look, and they’ll all be big players for fall: 1. PLAID. It wouldn’t be fall without plaid, would it? 2. Chunky Knits. (Turtlenecks are all the rage.) 3. Edgy yet classic accessories. Swap your everyday purse out for a sleek backpack, put a spin on loafers by opting for a pair with a lug sole, or simply break out your favorite baseball cap that’s been hiding in the back of your closet.

Who doesn’t want to parade around town in what is essentially, a giant blanket draped over their shoulders? Give your traditional coats a break this autumn and opt for the coziness and comfort of a cape. Choose between a blanket-like, poncho style for casual days, or a more structured version like the one above to replace your favorite peacoat.

Lace and ruffle aficionados rejoice because this next trend is taking us back centuries. Dabbling in different decades is fun, but this autumn prepare yourself for some major 19th Century drama. Neo Victorian has all the elements of classic Victorian elegance, only with a modern spin. Give it a try by matching a high-neck, lace blouse with edgy culottes and jewel-ridden accessories. Boots

Don't count this trend out just yet. When I say sky-high, I'm not referring to the heel height of the boots. More accurately, this fall's "it" boots are actually thigh-high, and typically flat or found with a chunky block heel. Longer boots are great because they allow you to continue to wear your shorter dresses without being bare-legged. You won't even need tights. (Although tights are having a big moment this fall, too.)
