Oh Land

Music + Fashion + Dance + Circus + Future = Oh Land. I heard Oh Land for the first time driving in Jason and Jessica's car several months back, and LOVED it the second I listened to "Son of a Gun." After that day I couldn't remember the name of the artist, and I just forgot about it. Thanks to Pandora, Oh Land popped up, and I immediately looked up the website.

Well, I'm head over heels now. Lady Gaga move over!

Nanna Oland Fabricious (a.k.a. Oh Land) is a Danish singer-songwriter that also happens to be a trained ballet dancer and BEAUTIFUL! She incorporates incredible performances into everything she does. She also happens to be a daughter of an organist and opera singer, so OBVIOUSLY this gal has talent. haha!

Jayna Jordan

I'd like to introduce all of you to a rising star, Miss Jayna Jordan.

This beautiful high school gal can act, play the guitar AND sing!

You can spot her showing off her acting chops in the popular Disney TV movie Lemonade Mouth.

With the teamwork of Session Nine Photography, myself and Jayna, we came up with a photo shoot concept that shows off her romantic, whimsy, bohemian personality.

Jayna is a bookworm and an old soul at heart. At home she surrounds herself with good reads, her journals and pens to write her poetry, lyrics and thoughts. So, we created a scene with books, papers and sunlight inside of a historic house in downtown Phoenix.

She's a coffee lover, so of course, we had to throw in a coffee mug.

We kept Jayna's hair and makeup very simple, and chose natural, bohemian clothing to keep a soft, feminine and approachable presence. Jayna always sings with bare feet, so we avoided shoes for most of the shoot.

Side note: If you're planning a portrait or family photo session, really take the time to come up with a story or setting that suits your family. It is SO much fun to create something you would find in a movie or magazine, AND it helps communicate your personality further.

We also photographed Jayna outside a downtown Phoenix coffee shop called Lola. It's my all time favorite cafe to hang out in, and was perfect for the shoot.

Gap Premium Denim

You may have seen loads of advertisements lately for Gap Premium Denim. Let me tell ya, it's definitely all it's cracked up to be. I always buy Gap jeans, but I'm really liking these cuts of denim. I bought some premium skinny jeans a couple weeks ago and I love them. Polyvore.com held a contest for Gap called, "Born to..." I created a look that described what I'm born to do. I said that I'm born to learn because that's exactly what I love doing every day. I love learning about God, fashion, people, music, art...you name it. It might be cheesy, but it's true. I used items that reminded me of college. Simple and comfortable.

Music Inspired - Imogen Heap

Music is such a passion of mine. I love how it teleports me back to moments in my life and how it enhances your surroundings. Imogen Heap has a new album coming out August 24, 2009 - "Ellipse." It's a amazing. Take a listen below. Airy, light, flowing fabrics come to mind when I listen to this music.

Pop Lover

I love pop music to the core! I always have and I always will. I listen to almost all genres of music, but the mainstream, MTV artists will always have a fan in me. Nothing makes me happier than a good dance party in my living room or in front of my mirror with Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake tunes in the background. (Yes, Ryan, I still have dance parties when you're not home). All morning I've been listening to pop music on Pandora (I have a Britney Spears radio station), and all i want to do is have a fashion photo shoot now...Jessica, better get out the camera...haha. So, in honor of my burst of pop cravings,  here's my top ten list of 2008/2009 pop artists:
