Aly's Senior Styling Session

Oh, to be a high school senior again...The anticipation of leaving your family and starting to pursue your God-given dreams is such a sweet time. I loved my senior year of high school, and I especially loved getting my senior photos taken. Aly-6 (1)

I was really honored to work with Aly, and help her create some fun outfits for her senior pictures. She is such a creative and joyful person that loves to express herself by mixing fun patterns, putting skirts over dresses and just experimenting with things in her closet. Together we came up with some eclectic looks that give the vibe of Free People.

Check out these beautiful photos from Session Nine. They took Aly up North to Flagstaff and used the snow to make the coolest backdrop. I think her outfits standout all of the more with the blanket of snow.

Oscar Fashion

Award season gives us a lot to talk about, and our favorite subjects are the dresses. At the Oscars Sunday night, the stars put their best foot forward. I felt pretty neutral towards the dresses this year; no ones outfit particularly wowed or disgusted me. A few ladies did stick out in striking, perfect-for-award-show outfits. Here are my top 3 choices for best dressed at the Oscars: 1. Jessica Chastain: Although she didn't win for Best Actress, I thought Jessica Chastain's red hair and sparkling Armani Prive gown went together perfectly.

2. Charlize Theron: Drop dead gorgeous in an all white gown from Dior Couture. Charlize Theron is just flawless all around, I loved her simple jewelry and super short hair!

3. Naomi Watts: Another stunning Armani Prive dress, I love the cut out detail. I think this was a perfect red carpet moment for her, sparkling and stunning!

Fashion week trends

NYFW brought us a lot of new styles to think about, some more approachable than others (read: gray cable knit mules/slingbacks at Alexander Wang). Here are 5 trends coming up for fall 2013: 1. Peplums: Ok, so this is not a new trend, but it definitely has staying power. It popped up on the runways at shows like Kate Spade, Jason Wu, and Lela Rose.

2. Plaid: Another trend that's been sticking for quite some time. Alice + Olivia, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Tommy Hilfiger all incorporated the plaid patterns in their shows.

3. Structured Pants & Jackets: The fall runway brought a lot of structure, in both suits and separates. A structured jacket was prominent in the Rag & Bone show.

4: Leather: Leather was, surprisingly, seen in a lot of pants silhouettes. Slouchy leather "sweats" were seen at 3.1 Philip Lim, Charlotte Ronson and Christian Siriano.

5. Jumpsuits: The 70's silhouette hasn't died yet! My favorite jumpsuits came down the runway at Suno and Band of Outsiders

Angela & Roi

If you're thinking about buying a new bag, I've got a GREAT idea for you- buy one from a company that promotes more than just a style. Angela & Roi, a handbag company started by couple Angela & Roi Lee, makes handbags that are not only minimalistic and chic, but also made with vegan leather! The bags are beautiful, but if you need more convincing, Angela & Roi donates a portion of each sale to a healthcare organization through their Donate by Color campaign. They make large totes, shoulder bags, and cross body bags all with vegan leather-all minimalistically gorgeous. My personal favorite: the mini black cross-body. Check out their website to learn more about the causes they donate to, as well as see the beautiful bags they make! angelaroi1

The mini cross body comes in 5 different colors!
